4TH INTERNATIONAL DRAWING COMPETITION WROCŁAW 2009

Aim of the Competion

The competition is a review of the drawing in the recent years, aimed at the broadest perspective of creative attitudes and tendencies, the best achievements and experiments in this field.

Organizers of the competition ask the artists a fundamental question, a question about trusting rudimentary artistic activities and about drawing’s place in their own artistic practice. At this point the variety of mature, autonomic works of art cocstitute their greatest value and it is the best proof of drawing vitality. This is a gesture, which from the chaos of experience and signs, obtains what is important. A gesture from which the arrangement of the world begins.

Awards

Grand Prix – the Minister of Culture and National Heritage Award 25.000 zł

President of the City of Wrocław Award 20.000 zł

Marshal of the Province of Lower Silesia Award 5.000 zł

Rector of the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Wrocław Award (for beginner artist) 8.000 zł

Drawings awarded by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, the President of the City of Wrocław, and the Rector of the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Wrocław become the Organizers’ possession.

The International Jury will also award 10 Honourable Distinctions and special awards founded by the Sponsors of the Competition.

Decisions of the International Jury of the Competition are final.

Terms of the Competition

Competition is opened to all intrerested artists !

All unique, two-dimensional forms of draftsmenship realized on traditional materials (paper, tissue, wood, foil) are acceptable up to a maximum size of 100 x 70 cm.

One person can submit a maximum of three drawings made after 2006.

Drawings submitted should be owned by the artist who made them.

All drawings should be sent in packadges that will protect them against any damage. Hard tubes are recommended!

The complete application form (with the applicant’s e-mail address – very important !) and the receipt of payment of 30 EURO entry fee.

ALL THE SUBMITTED DRAWINGS WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE CATALOGUE OF THE COMPETITION, AVAILABLE ON THE WEBSITE OF THE COMPETITION.

All the results of the Jury (list of selected drawings, awards, distinctions) and date of the main exhibition will be announced immediately by mail and on the website of the competitionon until August, the 10th 2009.

Each of the participants of the Competition will receive a catalogue containing the minutes and report of the Jury’s meeting, reproductions of the awarded drawings and works of all the participants qualified for the main exhibition.

Results of the Competition will be announced in the mass media.

Organizers reserve the right to free reproduction othe drawings submited to the competition.

Organizers should not be responsable for any damages that can may occur in transportation.

Be sending in the signed entry form the participant accepts the terms of the competition.

Deadlines and Addresses

Organizers will receive the works sent by post from June 1st 2009 to July 15th 2009 (July 15th is non-extendible). The date on the stamp will not be taken into account.

Drawings may be delivered in person from July 1st 2009 to July 15th 2009 inclusive, from 10 am – 3 pm.

Drawings not accepted for the exhibition of the 4th International Drawing Competition Wrocław 2009 will be returned within 6 month after the main exhibition is finished. It will be also possible to collect them in person between June the 7th 2010 and June the 18th 2010 (10 am – 3 pm) at the office of the Competition in the Museum of the Academy in Wrocław.

Drawings accepted for the exhibition of the 4th International Drawing Competition Wrocław 2009 will be returned until the end of May 2011, because of the project called: „The Touring Exhibition” – a cycle of presentations at the significant galleries in Poland and abroad. Please, insert a sign „x” into a proper field of the entry form, if you don’t want to take part in The Touring Exhibition project. Then your drawings will be returned within 6 month after the final exhibition in Wrocław is finished.
